Today's thought

Spoiler alert, this is gonna be a really selfish sounding rant. So May is  Mental Health Awareness Month. So, to be aware- that means to understand mental health and thus to have sympathy and compassion for those who suffer. Mental health seems to be the most taboo subject out there. Unless you have a severe retardation, "normal" people don't discuss their mental health. And they are less likely to seek treatment. Most suicides are traced back to some sort of mental health issue.... Depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bi-polar, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. A disorder is a condition characterized by lack of normal functioning of physical or mental processes... so basically it's a lack of being normal? If you actually think about it- the mind is a beautiful and frightening place all at the same time- It's complex. People have gone mad trying to figure it out. And then you add feelings, this thing people call "a heart" t...

Today's thought :)

What's the golden rule?  Well, they say it many times in the Bible and it has it's derivatives in other religions.... “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Matt. 7:12) 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." Mark 12:31

Live and let live: WEDDINGS

When did we become a nation who's own people tell each other what they should and shouldn't do, and who tells all the other nations how they should and shouldn't live their lives? I read an article titled: Let’s Ban Weddings and, While We’re at It, Baby Showers Too "The celebrations women don't need to have" written by, a woman. I'm sorry, but in a country where Freedom reigns , why would you try to ban happiness? Why would you suggest it. Really, I have more of a problem with how this was phrased and less of a problem with the actual concept of it. I see the under-title saying "don't need to have"... and that may be the truest statement of them all. There's plenty of STUFF out there we DON'T NEED TO HAVE to survive and live a decent life. Over here in the good ole US of A though, it's a society that relishes in excess, showing off, and luxury.  Yes- weddings are ridiculously expensive, IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE. They a...

And again- why do all the fun things happen all on the same day??

Here we go again. One weekend: Many events! polo match at my home field :( wine tasting/festival a local German Oktoberfest that my friends bought leiderhosen for San Gennaro festival in NYC Renaissance Faire NJ historic haunted Mill tour and ghost hunt and of course birthday/bachelorette bash out of state<-- attending I have a feeling there's like 3 other things but I can't remember them at this moment.... #firstworldproblems

Making babies.... it's not THAT easy

I guess I'm at that age now where people are settling down (LATE 20's, early 30's) and thinking about/trying to/ actually procreating.  It's funny to think there's an appropriate age to do this.  Fast Fact: The female body is ready to reproduce on average between ages 8 and 12. Some as young as 4 have become mothers. Let's not talk about what possesses a male to try to impregnate a 4 year old. It's a disturbing thought for most. Imagine being a kindergartner and getting your period for the first time. Imagine just hitting the double digits and getting it, getting married off, becoming pregnant when you don't even really know whats going on it your body. These things happen in our world today. A few years ago it was a shocker if you were a "teen mom". Teen meaning under 18, probably still in high school. I remember being appalled there was a Freshman in our HS that was pregnant when I was a Junior. I didn't even have sex at this point ...

Why do all the fun things happen on ALL THE SAME DAY

Do you ever have that instance when you have 3 or 4 fun things and they all happen to fall on the same day (or weekend)? example:  -your friend is visiting from out of state (with their new baby) -your girl friend's bachelorette party (out of state) -Your friend from college is having a "1st annual event" down the shore, so many of your college buddies that you don't see often are already going.  Each one is fun in it's own way. On one hand, friends from out of state, you don't get to see them often. They just had a kid- he's cute! And they're coming your way for the whole weekend. they did kinda plan this last minute (2 weeks before??) On the other, your really good girlfriend (I mean hell, you made centerpieces for her bridal shower and she made a speech about you... you guys are TIGHT) is having her bachelorette party out of town that same weekend. Last minute as well (less than 2 weeks before??) On the 3rd hand- you RSVP'd a month ago...
