(Peaceful?)Durham NC protesters topple confederate monument

Interesting that Huffpost has no problem sharing the footage of this... with a biased headline. The headline should read: Protestors destroy public property, face felony charges. But these are peaceful people, right? The ANTIFA protestors are always peaceful. It's the alt right white supremacists who we need to fear. Antifa are peaceful people... who don't take the time to petition and do things the right way. You know like kindly asking the county whose property it was on to remove it. But I mean, the alt right rally had permits and paid fees to set up in Charlottesville. They had permission to be there- They're terrible!! Vandalism is "action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property." Vandalism and destruction of property are both criminal charges- you could be convicted of breaking something minor with malicious intent, or bashing someone's car until it's unrecognizable with a baseball bat with CLEARLY malicious in...

What is cultural competency- and why does it sound so demeaning???

Student protesters take over UC Santa Cruz administration building w/ these demands:  1- Guarantee four-year housing for black students at the Rosa Parks building, which is marketed as a 'housing option for students interested in "historical, present-day, and future experiences of predominately Black/African American peoples,"' per the school. 2- They want that building/house to be painted red, green and black, the colors of black liberation. Let's start here: ** UC Santa Cruz has a distinctive residential college system in which all undergraduate students, whether ...

What exactly are we protesting, and why is it supposedly Trump's fault?

Protesting. This is a normality now. It is an everyday occurrence. Another thing we have to consider "the new normal", right next to terror attacks and 'shootings'. We all heard about the women's marches... the most famous was the one on DC the day after the inauguration. But let me point out- this movement was organized and marches were held on a WORLDWIDE LEVEL.... which got me thinking that that issue actually has NOTHING TO DO WITH TRUMP.... But what do I know? I'm just a woman-- who's not afraid of a Trump-governed America. But that's not the only thing being marched or protested about. Gays were out in full force this weekend- They piggybacked the women's rally with signs that said things like "If I can't marry my boyfriend, I'll marry your daughter". I am not sure what that has to do with anything, but it seems disrespectful to the women who are marching for THEIR rights. Organize your own damn rally!! Blacks were p...
