TTC- Time for a second opinion...

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that we "waited" to conceive during certain parts of our journey? We got married in June 2015. I had been off birth control a few months and we had not used condoms in years. Technically, we were not 'trying' right after we got married- we had two months until our honeymoon and I was afraid of morning sickness and not being able to enjoy ourselves in Slovakia, Poland, and Italy... especially the wonderful wine... So we didn't actively try until we touched down in Italy, our beautiful, wonderful adventure of a honeymoon. At that point, I didn't know much about my cycle and my ovulation days and what not. We came home, I got my period, and reports of "we're pregnant" started pouring in immediately. A couple who got married a week after us got pregnant immediately, a couple who got married in September got pregnant immediately, two couples who had been married a few years let us know they were pregnant- one with...

to she who says "GETTING MARRIED IS NOT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT"

And the author then follows that headline with "Ladies, before you angrily dismiss me, hear me out...You don’t have to have a brain, drive or special skill set to get married. You just have to have a willing partner." 1st of all, I just want to note that an equal amount of MEN commented on this article as women did.  Here's my thoughts.... "You just have to have a willing partner"... sounds like what they say about sex now-a-days...  Getting married IS an accomplishment, it means you accomplished putting aside all of your selfishness and insecurities to be really real with someone - to care about them as much as (or more than) you care about yourself.  It means you've learned to work together on all things, you've learned to share secrets with them, you've learned there are no more secrets, you've learned to make JOINT everything- life goals, decisions, plans, accounts.  You have bettered yourself and another by being together ...

Live and let live: WEDDINGS

When did we become a nation who's own people tell each other what they should and shouldn't do, and who tells all the other nations how they should and shouldn't live their lives? I read an article titled: Let’s Ban Weddings and, While We’re at It, Baby Showers Too "The celebrations women don't need to have" written by, a woman. I'm sorry, but in a country where Freedom reigns , why would you try to ban happiness? Why would you suggest it. Really, I have more of a problem with how this was phrased and less of a problem with the actual concept of it. I see the under-title saying "don't need to have"... and that may be the truest statement of them all. There's plenty of STUFF out there we DON'T NEED TO HAVE to survive and live a decent life. Over here in the good ole US of A though, it's a society that relishes in excess, showing off, and luxury.  Yes- weddings are ridiculously expensive, IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE. They a...

Making babies.... it's not THAT easy

I guess I'm at that age now where people are settling down (LATE 20's, early 30's) and thinking about/trying to/ actually procreating.  It's funny to think there's an appropriate age to do this.  Fast Fact: The female body is ready to reproduce on average between ages 8 and 12. Some as young as 4 have become mothers. Let's not talk about what possesses a male to try to impregnate a 4 year old. It's a disturbing thought for most. Imagine being a kindergartner and getting your period for the first time. Imagine just hitting the double digits and getting it, getting married off, becoming pregnant when you don't even really know whats going on it your body. These things happen in our world today. A few years ago it was a shocker if you were a "teen mom". Teen meaning under 18, probably still in high school. I remember being appalled there was a Freshman in our HS that was pregnant when I was a Junior. I didn't even have sex at this point ...

unrealistic expectations pt 1

Divorce rates are high- we know that.  Right now in the media things people are chatting about is : "How many times has Donald Trump been married?" "How did Hillary stay with Bill?" "how many guys does Taylor Swift go through?" "Amber Heard and Johnny Depp get divorced after ___ months" I'd like to think of "forever" and "happily ever after" all that stuff- but sometimes people aren't a good match. Sometimes people change. Sometimes the grass is greener. Sometimes there's just someone truly better. Sometimes, we are lazy and don't put the work in (especially when shit isn't so easy) and that's when it all fizzles out.  And everyone says it- "The key to relationships is good communication". How many people work on their communication skills? How many people actually HEAR and DIGEST what the  other  person is saying to them- especially when it has to do with FEELINGS. It would b...

about family

My question to you is- what does family mean to you? Does family mean you love each other unconditionally, but don't have to like each other? Does it mean that you allow others to make their own disastrous mistakes and keep your mouth closed? Does it mean that you try to divert them when they're on a collision course with heartbreak or failure or stupidity? Does it mean you "agree to disagree" every time you are with them? Does family always ask the other person first whats new? Does family always extend the invitation, or is it assumed the invite is always open? Does family mean open communication but only if it won't butthurt anyone (and does everyone's family have that one person who's butthurt about EVERYTHING?) I love my family. I would fight like a savage to protect them, I would guide them like no one guided me away from all failures and misdemeanors and stupid acts I have traipsed through. I want to be the matriarch, the one they look to...

My 1st Wedding Anniversary

I'd like to say that when I started this weight loss thing almost 30 days ago (I had hoped I would have a full 30 days under my belt by June 3rd when I left for vacation but alas, shipping did not allow for it) it was with the intention to be at my wedding day weight of 120-122 (not quite sure, hotels don't have scales!!) by today. Reality is, I am nowhere near that. I am lucky if I am at 130 today. -not enough exercise? -too much 'cheating'? (terrible word to use while writing about a wedding anniversary....) -Belly fat is harder to lose than other fats?? But instead of being negative- like so much of the world is ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME- I'm going to look at the positives.   *My husband and I have been married 1 full year. *We have not killed each other. Although I almost burn the apartment building down every time I cook. *Every day he tells me I'm beautiful just the way I am. He says if I want to lose weight, it is for ME. Not every woman can say...

Dieting on Vacay

Today I got up at the crack of dawn to embarq on an adventure . Hubby and I are celebrating 1 year of marriage in Newport RI. Being we are both raised in NJ, got married on a NJ beach, and have never been to Newport before, you may ask how we ended up there. YES We literally randomly selected it. We decided that since we got married on a beach, each year we will visit a different beach for our anniversary. We are clearly starting on the east Coast :) To date, together we have been up and down the Jersey coast, we have been to Ocean City Maryland, we have been to Daytona Beach FL, we have been to Jones Beach NY, we've been to Cancun, we've been to Capri and Sorrento. There are probably more but they evade me. So Newport RI won out this year because it's a lively port town and it was only about a 3 hour drive so perfect for a long weekend. I say that now since we just got in the car... Mind you, I almost brought my Bullet Blender with me to mix up my shakes. I have 3 can...
