The Coal and Diamonds Observation

There are so many things to compare and fight for in this day and age. Comparing women vs men and fighting for equal rights. Comparing legal citizens vs illegal citizens and fighting for their rights. Comparing gay vs straight, humanitarian outlook vs self-survival outlook, or classic gender assignment vs new age gender assignment.... really the list can go on but I'm already face-palming and shaking my head.... WHY? Because the bottom line is we are all HUMANS (right??) and we all have certain unalienable rights- in my opinion best outlined as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... and then to be sub-categorized accordingly. What I would like to focus on, in light of February being BLACK HISTORY MONTH, is the Black vs White conundrum that all people are faced with. Last night I attended an event, and I was the minority. Me. White, suburban ME. I was out to promote a dear friend of mine and have a good time. I was out of place and felt it. There were a hand...

America- have some common sense...

So there's some craziness going on in America So some people didn't get what they wanted So some people want to fight the system The outcome of the 2016 election may suck, but we were going to end up with one of these two (actually there were 5 but let's not get into that) people as our President..... so it is done, it has happened.... and now it's time to come together and make the most of it. Please. I keep seeing people post on how they are terrified or scared  Well.. what are you scared of exactly?  War? Because that's happening. School shootings? Because that's happening. Pipeline? That's been happening. Terrorism? Definitely alive and well. Going broke due to health insurance? Mm yes. Corruption throughout the system? Already there. Police officers being murdered? Yep, that's happening. Innocent lives being lost? Happens every day Bullying? Check. Loss of jobs? We've got that on lock. Loss of Social Security? That...

Be the change ... (Part 2)

I have said it before and I will say it again-- BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD. Be it. Do it. Take action. "Teacher tell student 'you and your parents are getting deported'... is this Trump's America?" If we are blaming Trump for the teacher's actions.... If there are people out there blaming Trump for their actions, those people are a huge part of the problem. Those people are the ones inciting fear. Anyone who blames other people for the way they act or present themselves or treat others is a problem. And I feel that problem gets fixed by starting at HOME. Since when did we stop teaching kindness, and equality at HOME. Since when did we stop preaching accountability and respect at HOME? Because all the little a-holes running around running their mouths and not respecting other people, bullying other people, forcing their views on other people, blaming other people are more of a problem than the one man the majority of America e...

Thought of the day

"If you don't believe the same thing I believe, you're wrong and I don't like you and we can't be friends." That's not how America was founded. That seems to be how many people think now-a-days. Everyone is offended. Everyone is a tyrant forcing their own views on people. Everyone is wearing blinders. No one can have a conversation anymore, let along a debate. NORMAL PEOPLE cannot discus ideas and ethics and politics without getting ANGRY. People are threatening to do harm to other people for voicing their opinions. I'm sorry but I thought I live in the country that promises me life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, a gun to protect myself, and freedom of speech. The citizens of America are steadily making this NOT SO. Not the politicians. The every day Joe Schmoes who tell you to "STFU and find a hole to die in" because you made a comment on a Facebook post. The people who call you an inbred and a tranny and a retard over yo...

IgnoRANT... (sorry not sorry)

So I woke up this morning ... my husband says let's put some air in your tires before you go to the shore. What a winner he is. Always looking out for his woman. (enough sappy). So we hop in the truck and head to the local WAWA. And when we pull up there's a bunch of SUVs hanging out over at the air pump. They're not pumping air. People are out stretching walking around and chatting. That's cool. We are patient. We go tank up, I even get out and clean the windsheild because why not, we're killing time and damn are there a lot of smudges. Ding ding gas is done, we look over- they are still there. We decide to run inside and get a coffee. We hang out a moment debating breakfast sandwiches. I grab a huge jug of water to take to the beach with me. We go out. They are still sitting there. Milling around. OK, clearly no one is getting air. There's even an SUV pulled up to that area using trying to use the pump. My husband says we should just go to another place and ...

The "world police" mentality

So I saw this today: And you know what my response to this meme is?? "What I would eat and what I care about other people eating are two different things" What I have eaten in that picture: chicken, cow, pig, duck What I would eat int hat picture: chicken, cow, pig, duck, rabbit, horse... dog or cat if that was a local specialty/delicacy Not pictured that I've eaten: Goat, fish, alligator, deer, bugs In my eyes, I do not believe that anyone should tell me what to eat and I shouldn't tell other people what to eat. YOU think dogs and cats are fuzzy cute companion animals. YOU think horses are companion animals. What YOU think and what (NAME ANY OTHER PERSON) thinks, believes, or knows is not the same thing. I think my micropig Tito is a family member and I would never eat his adorable little fat bacon filled body. But I eat bacon and pork in general. I think my Nigerian goat is a pain in the ass and I wouldn't eat his sinewy old ass even though he annoys me...

All Lives Matter Pt. 2

Scenario: I'm at the park, walking my dog, and I see a group of disabled people on an outing. They are all smiling. They are happy. They smile at me, and smile at my dog. And one woman steps forward and asks "May I pet your dog?". She's so very polite and I tell her yes he's friendly but he might jump but don't be frightened he loves to give kisses. And she reaches down, gently, and he embraces her. And he kisses her as if she's the most perfect wonderful person he has ever met. And this is basically how he greets everyone. And she tells me he is handsome, and she tells me she likes my hair, and I tell her I love her bright colored sneakers. And she says thank you and I tell her to have a wonderful day. And we part ways. I know I was smiling. My dog was smiling. She was clearly smiling the whole time. I wish everyone had more interactions like this. #1- Smiles for days. SMILES. FOR. DAYS. I said to my husband this weekend "Do I have anything in my...

I don't want to be anything other than.... me

Let's talk about discrimination. Let's talk about judgement. Let's talk about HATE. I am white, female, Christian, American, Catholic, short, loud, outgoing, fun, cute, educated, loving. I have big hopes and dreams, I have educated and yet provocative thoughts and outlooks. I have swagger, I have style, I have a personality. I feel the HATE more than the love. I see how people look at me, I have heard how they perceive me. I have felt the sting of discrimination.  And yet there are so many people out there who would never believe that I too have felt singled out for my thoughts/beliefs/actions/being. To some, I'm as normal as it gets. To some, I stick out like a sore thumb. To some, I blend in or am "tolerable". To some, I stand out or "should be avoided at all costs". Sometimes I feel like people look at me and think I'd be a bad influence. And sometimes I feel like people want to be me. In today's day and age, you have to be a her...

Positively negativity

This should be my motto EVERY DAY It's everywhere, everyday, sometimes all day. Some people ooze it, some people just have resting bitch face but we take it personally, and some people live to see it affect others.  Take for instance- Westboro Baptist Church. A Church. With one hell of a negative message. **Disclaimer, the following quotes do not belong to the writer of this blog and it pains me to even write it out... images would have been worse ** God h8s fags... Thank God for dead soldiers... God hates you... The Jews killed Jesus- God hates Israel WHAT?!?! DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN READ THE BIBLE?  God has no ability to hate. He doesn't hate anyone. He even says that if you repent and are truly sorry, you will be forgiven- he doesn't make any exceptions to this rule.  To elaborate on these [weird IMO] people- in case you are unfamiliar- this so-called "church" demonstrates  hate-filled protests of military  -AND NOW ALSO THE VICTIMS OF THE WORST MA...

i get knocked down, but I get up again (adventures in Equestrian)

Ya know I'm sitting here thinking to myself that I don't fall off horses because I'm stupid or I did anything wrong. When I was young, we used to say "I learned something when I fell off, and I'll never fall off for that same reason". The last couple times have been complete and utter accidents.  Accidents happen. You try to avoid them. Sometimes you can try all you want but you might make it worse. So yeah, I feel like I hit the ground more than I should(at my age/level), but I can count plenty of times I could have hit the ground and I didn't. That's what is exciting and scary and exhilarat ing about my sport- I team up with a 1100+ lb animal with a mind of its own who speaks a different language. Sometimes we get each other, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we trust each other, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we trip and fall on our faces. But we do it together. And as long as I want to get back on and the horse lets me get back on, I will keep...

INTERNET TROLLS

Thought this might make some people laugh... Someone just defriended and blocked me because they couldn't handle my opinion on a trending topic. I used to break bread with this person, used to be beer pong buddies, used to hang out and treated each other like family- I think they called me "big sister".  And yet, when I voiced my opinion on a subject and they vehemently disagreed ... instead of engaging in a conversation where both sides are heard and there are no hard feelings, instead of "agreeing to disagree", instead of having a respectable debate... this person immediately resort to name calling and swea ring and belittling.  "STFU you're white trash" (not sure what that has to do with anything- you're white too?) and tell me to go kill myself. This happens way too much on the internet- and I have seen it happen in a [very]specific age group (millennials). Thank God I know that this was one of the stupidest subjects to blow a gasket ...
