Living in an age of GUILT

Maybe it's just me and my upbringing, I mean Italian mothers/grandmothers are top notch at laying on the guilt. God forbid you made ANY plans on a Sunday, or any other day designated as a family day, that didn't include getting together at Mom or Grandma's house for a 3 course (or more) army-sized meal. As I grew up and became aware and independent, I felt 'guilt' more and more. Not just for not spending time with family. For not thanking them enough. For not doing enough around the house. For not offering to do enough. For not having better grades or being better at something. For not having enough money for things. All sorts of guilt. I've carried this childhood notion of always feeling guilty about everything into my married, established, adult life.  Interestingly enough, where I thought it was just a "ME" thing, I'm starting to realize our culture, as a whole, is very geared towards placing guilt on people unnecessarily. It comes in a lot o...

(Peaceful?)Durham NC protesters topple confederate monument

Interesting that Huffpost has no problem sharing the footage of this... with a biased headline. The headline should read: Protestors destroy public property, face felony charges. But these are peaceful people, right? The ANTIFA protestors are always peaceful. It's the alt right white supremacists who we need to fear. Antifa are peaceful people... who don't take the time to petition and do things the right way. You know like kindly asking the county whose property it was on to remove it. But I mean, the alt right rally had permits and paid fees to set up in Charlottesville. They had permission to be there- They're terrible!! Vandalism is "action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property." Vandalism and destruction of property are both criminal charges- you could be convicted of breaking something minor with malicious intent, or bashing someone's car until it's unrecognizable with a baseball bat with CLEARLY malicious in...

Everyone's thinking it, I'm asking: Is today's left wing liberalism a mental illness?

This is a serious topic of discussion on 'the right'. Not even the far right... the center right. The " 68 % conservatives", the "Centrists", the "Young Outsiders", and the "Somewhat Liberals".  I don't know what the spectrum is for "political or world views" but I'd have to say I hang to the right and the conservative. Which sounds so weird, because CONSERVATIVE is not really a word I'd  ever  use to describe myself. But I talked about this in past blog posts... today's topic is, are people on the FAR LEFT suffering from mental illness? My psychologist sister would have you believe that everyone suffers from some form of mental illness in varying degrees. I suffer from anxiety which induces depression. FUN! The anxiety is inherited, the depression is what occurs when you stop learning how to cope with new or prolonged anxiety inducing situations. Anxiety is a product of chemical imbalance, it can be trea...

Yesterday was MLK Jr day, and BLM jumped right on the bandwagon

As the nation celebrates  # MLK  Jr day — some would say it's important to note the current movement, that his people are still fighting the battle he started. They may go as far as to remind us all that people today are more critical of the movement for black lives than they were of the civil rights movement in the 60's. And then they ask-- How do we change that? ~~~Here we go... you want 2 cents? I got it!~~~ I think that what most people in this day and age forget, is that MLK Jr WAS A PACIFIST- That is probably the big difference. He was also educated. He calculated his words. He calculated the response to his words. He calculated his response to their response. He thought things out and always stayed true to his core self- being a pacifist (which means he wholeheartedly believed that war and violence are unjustifiable). And thus, he will always be remembered as the biggest ACTIVIST. His demeanor, his actions, his very well thought out words and marches were the...
