The (NOT SO) Skinny Girl

So, I have now been a mom for 6 months and about 2 weeks. I have felt guilt during most of those 6 months. Definitely once a day, from multiple sources. I think you could call me in particular a Xennial mom. Xennials (also known as the Oregon Trail Generation and Generation Catalano) are the micro-generation of people on the cusp of the Generation X and Millennial demographic cohorts, typically born between the late 1970s and early 1980s. Xennials are described as having had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood. That being said, I also find that Xennial moms fall right in between the lines in regards to whats acceptable for momming. What do I mean? Let me paint a broad picture. Most Xennials have a higher form of education under their belt- at least an Associates, most a Bachelor's, many a Masters or PHD, etc. Most Xennials are still paying off student loan debt. So for 2.5 years, I used an app called Glow to track my cycle and predict my fertile window for ovulation. Maybe I didn't use it to it's full potential; however, the app was consistently able to align with the painful ovulations and cysts my ovaries put me through, and also would accurately predict 'Aunt Flo's' arrival. I teamed the app up with Ovulation Predictor Kits for at least 6 months, still no luck. And in early December, after debating spending money on IUI, a chance meeting with a Creighton Model Nurse Practitioner pushed me to challenge the the factory line of main stream fertility clinics and go a little old school. We scheduled an introductory session that my husband and I attended, at which we gained better understanding of how this was going to go down and I purchased supplies to move forward and scheduled my first follow-up appointment. The Problem Is Most People Are Reactive First Thing In The Morning When the alarm goes off, they’re already hitting the snooze button and beginning the day in a REACTIVE STATE. They then have to rush to get ready, flood themselves with stress and anxiety thinking about all the things they have to do that day. Or they feel so tired and exhausted that after their 8 hours of sleep that they need to have their coffee just to give themselves a boost of energy...  And Sure Enough,  They Repeat The Same Pattern  Day After Day... Repeating The Same Reactive Morning Ritual.

It's official!! We are home owners!  This journey took about 1 year, almost 100 houses seen, multiple offers, 3 contracts, almost 2 months "homeless", and finally we have a deed and keys!  🍾 🥂  We are big kids now!!  It blows my mind that I am now "rooted" somewhere, as clearly buying and selling houses is a huge hassle. So tax season is in full swing. My documents are in the queue to be processed and filed with my accountant. I have said it before and I will say it again- my husband is an immigrant. His whole family and the majority of his friends are immigrants. This"immigrant" conversation really hits home for me. Here's why... The country my husband comes from tries it's hardest NOT TO LET IT'S PEOPLE OUT. Especially the youth. Government officials know the youth will power the country forward into the new century (duh) and are important to the workforce and the economy. People have to win a lottery for VISA's. People who apply for VISA's can be denied for no reason at all, and not informed of this denial for a long period of time. It's also a country with a very high white population, almost no blacks, and I don't remember seeing any Latinos or Asians while there either...THAT'S A FIRST WORLD EUROPEAN COUNTRY RIGHT THERE.  2/16/17 was an organized nationwide strike called "day without immigrants". It seems the idea of being a 'housewife' is outdated, and is now widely considered a negative thing. I think that people who don't revere it, know nothing about it. People who think that running the household or child-rearing is not the most important thing a woman- or any parent can do- or that a woman can do so much more than the 'petty nuances of a stay at home mom'- this one is for you! Because, as a wife, I beg to differ. And the bible, an ancient text with so much profound wisdom to offer, actually states a wife's character is nothing short of NOBLE.
