Neo-Nazi's/KKK vs BPPM/BLM

Poster:  I really don't get how people can equate BLM/Black Panthers to neo-nazis/KKK/nazis/alt-right. They are not the same thing. The thing that troubles me is that it's so many people on my feed doing this whether it be with statuses or comments on statuses. I really don't get how you can come to this conclusion. Boy oh boy... if you don't get how people come to these conclusions, it's because you are not actually listening to the other person speak. Here we go! (My response) BLM IS a hate group. They readily say things like "Whites are genetic defects, are 'subhuman', and should be 'wiped out'". Listen to some of the rhetoric of the most powerful partners of BLM. Co- Founder Yusra Khogali? She uses her status and fame to call for more violence by her extreme group. She is known for is known for her public diatribes and violent rhetoric. She led the disruption of a gay pride parade- who ARE AS or MORE oppressed than the blacks. A...

Gen Z: "we're not as bad as people say we are"

No, my dear, you are. You really are. Did you look up from your phone while making that statement, or did you just post it to social media?  The Washinton Post (horrible journalism and reporting, not a legit news outlet, often considered "fake news") made a video where they interviewed some Gen Z-ers, to prove they are not as bad as everyone thinks. The only problem with this is that it didn't accomplish that goal. My mouth dropped open and I rolled my eyes a lot. And apparently, I am a "millennial" so I am either a 'step behind' Gen Z or right on track with them. Hmmmm... So again I say: No, you are as bad as people say you are- BUT at the young age of the kids in the video, it's not their fault. It's their parent's fault. The people saying they are a horrible, terrible generation probably didn't raise a Gen Z-er though. The parents did, and they created a generation of children who are plugged into tech instead of reality. I mean, t...

Interesting study on Gen Z (specifically ages 13-17)

https://storage.googleapis.com/think/docs/its-lit.pdf That's the link to the results of the study that involved "400 teens ages 13 to 17 and 800 millennials ages 18-25". Based on that reference from their closing page, I can see we are dealing with juveniles here. FFS could you pick a way to write the ages and be consistent? Use "to" or "-" but not both. UGH. Here we go!!! Page 3: According to this study, each teenager spends about $733 annually. They have the power to get their household to spend about $3,333 annually. They are about 25% of the population- and companies and marketing firms should not underestimate the power of their dollars. *I had a job at 13, and I don't think I spent $733 annually. Since paper routes are almost non-existent now, how exactly are these kids coming up with their own $733 to spend? And I sure didn't have the power to make anyone in my household spend $3,000 a year. We bargain-shopped and did without mos...

Today's thought part 1

DEAR ANXIETY: Kindly F**K off, thanks!

"I am whatever you say I am "

In the words of Eminem: "I am, whatever you say I am.  If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?  In my eyes, Eminem is admitting to being everything everyone ever said he was. That's actually awesome- because he accepts who he is (his faults, his failures, his haters), he doesn't blame other people. He wants to be perceived exactly the way he is, no political correctness, no sugar coating, no ulterior motives. He's being REAL, and he wants to be real , and he wants to be known for being real. However, there are plenty of times that people are perceived in away that is not true to WHO THEY ARE. Personally, for me, I'd like to correct that... to... " I am, whatever you say I am.  If I wasn't, then why would  YOU  say I am?" In my life, I have felt a lot of labels were placed on me. Some maybe I earned, some maybe I outgrew, some maybe I had no knowledge of. I did feet at some points that I received labels that I did not like or agree with, and...

Because the world needs more positivity in it........

Some thoughts on how to live a better, more positive life 💖 Live beneath your means Return everything you borrow Give clothes not worn to charity Do something nice and try not to get caught Don’t make excuses Don’t argue Stop blaming other people Admit when you make a mistake Listen more, talk less Be kind to people Be kind to unkind people Let someone cut ahead of you in line Be on time Get organized Strive for excellence, not perfection Take time to be alone Cultivate good manners Be humble Realize and accept that life isn’t fair Stop creating unrealistic expectations Know when to keep your mouth shut Go an entire day without criticizing anyone Go an entire day with smile on your face Everyday take a 30 minute walk Learn from the past  --  Plan for the future  --  Live in the present Don’t sweat the small stuff (it’s almost all small stuff). Don't forget- we were born to be REAL, not perfect.

A case FOR millenials FROM a 50+ year old

Her insight: "Some see millennials as trendy, spoiled, self-centered, privileged individuals. As a former teacher of this generation, and a follower of many, I feel they are leading the way in understanding and helping people understand privilege (whether it be white, male, straight... the list can go on and on, because we are finally are being held to the fire to respect the diversity that is America) and I think people of my generation have a lot to learn from them. My idealism, born of proximity to the first civil rights movement, the Vietnam Nam war, and "women's lib" see 'this as a effort to improve our world. Response # 1 to this statement:  But more importantly, our selfies are 0n fl33k*~ (I hope this is sarcastic.....?) Response #2:  Every generation takes heat from the certain obsolete minds of the preceding generations. (Kinda misogynistic to call people who are still living in this society "obsolete" but ok...) ( That's nice. They just...

They call me Feisty

So, have I mentioned I did the blog thing before? The only problem is I couldn't get back into my first blog after I deleted the email account associated with it :( I wanted to go with the same set-up, I mean, they don't call me Feisty for nothing... This blog I wrote when I was younger, and kinda the same thing- I started it because I needed to lose weight, wanted to chronicle my life, WANTED TO BE RELEVANT. Isn't that what blogging, and Insta, and Snap, and HASHTAGS are all about?

Colin Kaepernick's right, my right....

After talking about this whole thing in depth with my husband... I know what my point in this all is. I wrote a Facebook post and someone seemed disappointed in how I was viewing this. I realize that hiding behind a keyboard, you lose your emotion and you lose a sense of what you are trying to say. SOOOOO here goes. It's not about his right to stand or sit. It's not about his opinion or his feelings. For me, it's about the way he went about it. He didn't put the time into thinking about his approach to this topic. He had the power, the media, and the presence to make a point and make a difference. And he took action- he sat. And the cameras zoomed in and they saw him and people started wondering, people started asking. They asked if he was injured, sick, what could be triggering him to sit like this. And then he got the opportunity to explain. I guess for me, if you have to explain why you did what you did- you missed the big opportunity to make a po...

Thoughts for Italy

One year ago today I was in Italy. We went to Rome, Naples, the Amalfi Coast, and Florence. Last night, earthquakes ripped through the area. They occurred closest to Rome. Photographers and journalists rush to the area to report on it. side note-I'm glad you can make money off of other's misery. What I see in their photos is heartbreaking from all angles. First and Foremost- lives lost. God Speed. Secondly- history lost. Italy is full of beautiful old world charm. I can see it in the buildings reduced to rubble. They say they don't make them like they used to, but maybe someone should have done some inspection on those buildings and given them the support they need :( It doesn't matter what region, what town, what nation that tragedy strikes. It happens. And it makes you stop and think "what if". Photographers take pictures of bodies being extracted and carted away. Of broken people being rescued. Of broken buildings hiding sorrows. We think we are saf...

are you successful??

The hardest thing we face as individuals is making a commitment to our individual success. Career success has been rammed down our throats. I mean, we make believe we are grown-ups. We dream of being firefighters, police officers, Doctors, ETC. We dream and play and pretend as kids to do all these grown-up things. And then we work towards it. We learn to read and write. We learn to speak, and then to engage in conversation. We learn motor skills and hone higher levels of thinking. When we were children, we could honestly say we learned something or bettered ourselves every single day. Don't just focus on your career. A career doesn't hug you when you're sad, or listen when you need to talk, or curl up next to you each night. A bank account doesn't console you when you've lost a parent, sibling, spouse, friend, or child. A nice car won't surprise you with dinner or send you a card on your birthday.  I challenge anyone that considers themselves worth the chal...

unrealistic expectations pt 1

Divorce rates are high- we know that.  Right now in the media things people are chatting about is : "How many times has Donald Trump been married?" "How did Hillary stay with Bill?" "how many guys does Taylor Swift go through?" "Amber Heard and Johnny Depp get divorced after ___ months" I'd like to think of "forever" and "happily ever after" all that stuff- but sometimes people aren't a good match. Sometimes people change. Sometimes the grass is greener. Sometimes there's just someone truly better. Sometimes, we are lazy and don't put the work in (especially when shit isn't so easy) and that's when it all fizzles out.  And everyone says it- "The key to relationships is good communication". How many people work on their communication skills? How many people actually HEAR and DIGEST what the  other  person is saying to them- especially when it has to do with FEELINGS. It would b...

My cousin joined the cleanse "team"

So I had been talking to my cousin about this cleansing thing. We were recently walking on the beach just chatting about it. I didn't want to push it. I know her financial situation, but I also was listening to her talk about her body and her eating habits and her unhappiness.  And I mean I'm no sales person. BUT this is the first shake program I stuck to and it worked. The others, 30 days and no real results. This one was a little more expensive which is probably why I started with the other ones. But you truly do get what you pay for. I paid to lose 8lbs. . .To break a plateau. . . To gain energy. . . To see results. I got it. You can too. I had a long conversation with my cousin last night. I told her about my journey with Isagenix. People are always asking me "Why are you on a diet?" Why not I say- because YOU think I'm skinny? Because you think I'm petite? I'm on a diet because it seemed like the easiest thing to change- there were plenty of t...

Why do all the fun things happen on ALL THE SAME DAY

Do you ever have that instance when you have 3 or 4 fun things and they all happen to fall on the same day (or weekend)? example:  -your friend is visiting from out of state (with their new baby) -your girl friend's bachelorette party (out of state) -Your friend from college is having a "1st annual event" down the shore, so many of your college buddies that you don't see often are already going.  Each one is fun in it's own way. On one hand, friends from out of state, you don't get to see them often. They just had a kid- he's cute! And they're coming your way for the whole weekend. they did kinda plan this last minute (2 weeks before??) On the other, your really good girlfriend (I mean hell, you made centerpieces for her bridal shower and she made a speech about you... you guys are TIGHT) is having her bachelorette party out of town that same weekend. Last minute as well (less than 2 weeks before??) On the 3rd hand- you RSVP'd a month ago...

All Lives Matter Pt.3 - Let's talk about cops

Here's a thought: How often have you encountered a police officer? me: Possibly too often. I get pulled over a lot. There are often officer patrolling events I am at. I'm in cities a lot where they are working traffic. I also have one as a family member and a few as close personal acquaintances. What is your overall opinion of the officers you have had contact with? me: I'd say they're about 50% douschey and 50% stand up people. Even a stand up person can be a dousche sometimes. Even a dousche can be a stand up person sometimes. My officer family member would give the shirt off his back, is a family man, probably has his douschey "I'm a cop" moments but otherwise is a great guy. ONE TIME... I got pulled over and an officer approached my vehicle with his hand on his gun and yes, I feared for my life. I was afraid and scared and I didn't know why he would do this. After speaking with my family member about the incident, he said that the officer I e...

All Lives Matter Pt. 2

Scenario: I'm at the park, walking my dog, and I see a group of disabled people on an outing. They are all smiling. They are happy. They smile at me, and smile at my dog. And one woman steps forward and asks "May I pet your dog?". She's so very polite and I tell her yes he's friendly but he might jump but don't be frightened he loves to give kisses. And she reaches down, gently, and he embraces her. And he kisses her as if she's the most perfect wonderful person he has ever met. And this is basically how he greets everyone. And she tells me he is handsome, and she tells me she likes my hair, and I tell her I love her bright colored sneakers. And she says thank you and I tell her to have a wonderful day. And we part ways. I know I was smiling. My dog was smiling. She was clearly smiling the whole time. I wish everyone had more interactions like this. #1- Smiles for days. SMILES. FOR. DAYS. I said to my husband this weekend "Do I have anything in my...

#adulting

So there's a video on facebook (  https://www.facebook.com/attn/videos/1079636055405186/ ) That I saw and it really made me think.   After graduation and well into their 20s and 30s, many of today’s millennials continue to live childishly, so much so that the idea of behaving like an adult has become a joke with its own hashtag: #adulting. Per Urban Dictionary (because that's the only place to find definitions for stupid made up words- like BAE) Adulting   (v): to do grown up things and hold responsibilities such as, a 9-5 job, a mortgage/rent, a car payment, or anything else that makes one think of grown ups. Doing something grown-up and responsible (**MY FAVORITE**)  Being a responsible adult. Used by immature 20-somethings who are proud of themselves for paying a bill. Most appropriately:  Adulting (v): to carry out one or more of the duties and responsibilities expected of fully developed individuals (paying off that credit card debt, settling bee...

Lunch beeps

So, everyday at lunch I go for a walk with my coworker/friend.  And we talk about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.  We "talk shop"- work related things. We "talk boys"- about my husband and her boyfriend.  We walk, we talk, it's really refreshing.  But (almost) every day we have a nice little awkward chuckle about one thing... people who honk at us as we are walking. Minding our own businesses. *HONK!* It usually seems to be some sort of blue collar workers in a truck or van. And we have started coming up with reasons why they do this: - They think we look good (obvs) - They fantasize about a white-collar woman - They think white collar women fantasize about the blue-collared guy who's going to fix all their 'problems' - They're dirty old men - They think it's the ultimate compliment - They want us to know we were noticed These are all legit reasons. We are still debating whether it's rude, disgusting, kinda fu...

i get knocked down, but I get up again (adventures in Equestrian)

Ya know I'm sitting here thinking to myself that I don't fall off horses because I'm stupid or I did anything wrong. When I was young, we used to say "I learned something when I fell off, and I'll never fall off for that same reason". The last couple times have been complete and utter accidents.  Accidents happen. You try to avoid them. Sometimes you can try all you want but you might make it worse. So yeah, I feel like I hit the ground more than I should(at my age/level), but I can count plenty of times I could have hit the ground and I didn't. That's what is exciting and scary and exhilarat ing about my sport- I team up with a 1100+ lb animal with a mind of its own who speaks a different language. Sometimes we get each other, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we trust each other, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we trip and fall on our faces. But we do it together. And as long as I want to get back on and the horse lets me get back on, I will keep...
