How to live a "bold life"

1.) Embrace Fears Don’t shy away from your fears. Take baby steps if necessary. It’s important to not let fears run your life. By living a 'fearful' life, you’ll miss unforgettable adventures, experiences, and opportunities. Are you afraid of making mistakes? (Aren't we all?) Don’t be. We are all bound to make a few mistakes here and there. Learn from them instead of living in denial.  Try turning your fears into a source of inspiration- for you and for others. 2.) Learn Through Adversity Adversities are a part of life, and we choose the way we react to each adversity we face. Tough, challenging times can teach us a lot about ourselves and others. Others who may or may not deserve a place in our life. Adversity can make us come face-to-face with learning how we deal with integrity, responsibility, drive, and fear. Adversity is an important part of life because it can teach us so many life skills - things they don't teach in 'school'- and valuable les

Apparently abortion is a hot topic right now

The recent third and final presidential debate had a wildly - and slightly gory- leading topic...abortion. Hilary says the women have the right to choose, and even in late pregnancy she would not force a woman to give birth if it's detrimental to the health of the mother. Fair enough. The Donald said that he didn't agree with late term terminations, saying that it's not right to "rip the baby from the womb at 9 months". In his defense- he probably has no idea of the realities of child birth.  Because- all you out there on the 'ole interwebs- at 9 months, it's not abortion, it's straight up MURDER. However, a fetus can survive on it's own in this cruel outside world at 24 weeks. 24 weeks= 6 months. In fact, most states have banned  abortion at about 24 to 26 weeks of pregnancy So- depending on the state of the fetus, anything after that mile marker could be considered murder as well.  But what really riles me up is people'

Changes

~Nothing changes if nothing changes~ Are you wanting to make a change in your life? Look to what you consistently do every day. Your habit patterns are what make up who you are and where you are in life. Take time to evaluate the patterns you have developed and how they can be changed to serve you better. Remember..."Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity." -Albert Einstein

A case FOR millenials FROM a 50+ year old

Her insight: "Some see millennials as trendy, spoiled, self-centered, privileged individuals. As a former teacher of this generation, and a follower of many, I feel they are leading the way in understanding and helping people understand privilege (whether it be white, male, straight... the list can go on and on, because we are finally are being held to the fire to respect the diversity that is America) and I think people of my generation have a lot to learn from them. My idealism, born of proximity to the first civil rights movement, the Vietnam Nam war, and "women's lib" see 'this as a effort to improve our world. Response # 1 to this statement:  But more importantly, our selfies are 0n fl33k*~ (I hope this is sarcastic.....?) Response #2:  Every generation takes heat from the certain obsolete minds of the preceding generations. (Kinda misogynistic to call people who are still living in this society "obsolete" but ok...) ( That's nice. They just

10/11 is national "Come Out Day"!! :)

So I am not gay or anything. I mean, I dabbled in Bi in college- but who didn't??- and I think there are some gorgeous women out there that I would be flattered if they said they found me attractive or were interested in me... but the bottom line is I am married to a wonderful guy and what we do 'in the bedroom' is between him and I. That being said................... I grew up with "Uncle _____ and Aunt ____", and sometimes both those spots were filled by males family members. We also had a female couple in our close family friends. It never occurred to me as a very young child that this was, shall I say "weird" or is not "normal" a better way to put it? I also grew up in a Roman Catholic household- Church on Sundays and CCD on Mondays. All during this stage in my life, the phrases "that's so gay" and "you're so gay" were being thrown around a lot. "Fag", "faggot", even "homo"-

WTF is 'rape culture'?

There is no culture to rape.  Rape is, in essence, anti-culture.  I wasn't sexually assaulted becaus e of any sort of culture, but I could attribute it to lack of culture.  "Rape culture" is a term coined by feminists in the 70's, designed to show the ways in which society blames victims and normalized male sexual violence.  Let's not forget that if we are going with the definition of rape culture- blaming victims and shaming them and demeaning them- this can be done by both men and women. It can be just as detrimental to the mental and emotional state of a person as a physical attack. A wife who hears what her husband is accused of may think to herself that he is not capable of this and thus the attacked must be a lying shameless whore who initiated the event or worse- dreamed it up.  A mother who hears her son raped a girl at a college party could blame it on alcohol, booze, not enough supervision, the girls choice of clothing or over use of makeup or

The Giants game was on last night... and oh yeah two idiots were squabbling...

Trump says that if he was President, Hillary would be in jail.  People are saying that's a threat. So the question I posed to the old interwebs is: Why is it a threat when half the country is wondering why she's not there already?!?!?!?! And then someone gets ballsy and says "Actually not really, you must not have seen the recent polls" ACTUALLY- YES REALLY. Because, if you stand by the statement you just made, then you are clearly brainwashed by the media and not thinking for yourself. According to the polls, there are only two candidates. According to the polls, the numbers don't equal 100. According to the polls, each media outlet has different information coming through them. Here's my summary of the polls: A little more than half the country who's being accounted for likes Hillary, a little less than half the country likes Trump, and then there's a whole portion who's  UNACCOUNTED FOR. Please don't think that because she "pulled

New song that hits home

For a very long time I felt this way and now someone has put it into beautiful words and made a song. Let it be an anthem for anyone who feels this way... (note I crossed out the parts that don't pertain to me) She just wants to be beautiful She goes unnoticed, she knows no limits, She craves attention, she praises an image, She prays to be sculpted by the sculptor Oh she don't see the light that's shining Deeper than the eyes can find it Maybe we have made her blind So she tries to cover up her pain, and cut her woes away 'Cause covergirls don't cry after their face is made But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark You should know you're beautiful just the way you are And you don't have to change a thing The world could change its heart No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful She has dreams to be an envy, so she's starving You know, "Covergirls eat nothing." She says, "Be

Thought of the day

"If you don't believe the same thing I believe, you're wrong and I don't like you and we can't be friends." That's not how America was founded. That seems to be how many people think now-a-days. Everyone is offended. Everyone is a tyrant forcing their own views on people. Everyone is wearing blinders. No one can have a conversation anymore, let along a debate. NORMAL PEOPLE cannot discus ideas and ethics and politics without getting ANGRY. People are threatening to do harm to other people for voicing their opinions. I'm sorry but I thought I live in the country that promises me life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, a gun to protect myself, and freedom of speech. The citizens of America are steadily making this NOT SO. Not the politicians. The every day Joe Schmoes who tell you to "STFU and find a hole to die in" because you made a comment on a Facebook post. The people who call you an inbred and a tranny and a retard over yo

If you complain about something, you expect someone to DO something about it- right?

So think about this If you feel you are being harassed- you can tell your supervisor, you can tell management, you can call the police. And you EXPECT something to be done- and you expect something to be done in your favor. And if the people you tell don't do something about it that IS in your favor... you can wreck them. If it's a business- you tell people bad things about them and get them to never go there. If it's in your office, you can go to someone higher up and have the person you originally spoke to reprimanded for not handling your situation the way that you wanted it. If someone is bothering you in a public place- or even worse, in your own house- you can call the police and most likely they will be removed. Apparently that works for you if you are the one having done the calling on the police. Apparently that's a huge problem if you are the one the police are "coming after". I don't know how to put it another way. But I do know this- On

Job, career, income... financial stability

Let's talk about careers, jobs, income. Let's imagine you're a young kid. Before you even go to school, people ask you what you want to be when you grow up. And maybe you say fireman, policeman, doctor, builder, artist. Most likely you say something you've seen that stands out to you. Maybe Mom or Dad does it, maybe uncle or grandpa, or maybe just a character from TV. So you saw it and understand the job they do, and you decide that when you grow up that's what you want to be. So let's pick one... we'll go with firefighter. Because a lot of people perceive them to be heroes, and then maybe assume that such a dangerous and overly helpful job-because it benefits so many people- must be prosperous. So not only are you a hero, lots of people will need your help so you have job security, but it must pay well. So even as a little kid you put it together that it's a great job to have. Money, fame, etc. OK. Good choice. What's the reality of the job thou
